Another manifestation of my grief ... AKA - How I have allowed my gardens to go to pot... AKA - Mel's 67th Show & Tell

Yesterday, as I pulled out of my driveway to go visit Peyton's grave, I noticed just how awful and overgrown I've allowed our front garden to get, having neglected it (among many other things) these past several months.

I guess I stopped caring about how things looked at about this time...

This summer has been very rainy and gray, allowing the weeds to sort of take over the entire area. I suppose, with all that has been going on, I just sort of hadn't noticed.

A little bunny came over to check out the garden

and upon seeing its condition, stopped,

turned up its nose at me disapprovingly,

and then hopped away.
I can't say that I blame him. Seeing what our gardens had become made me want to turn and walk away too. I took this as a sign that something needed to be done...

It's not much...

but an improvement nonetheless...

  4. I love flowers. Of any kind. So fragrant, so beautiful, I touch the petals softly, adoring each one. Your garden is beautiful. Even the weeds. Mrs. Rabbit will be back, with a BIG grin on her cute little lips!

  5. I too don't think the appearance of things is as important since losing my girls. The flowers you planted look great, watch for the bunny now, she will probably be back!

  6. I've also neglected my garden. Amongst other things. It's hard to care about all this stuff, about anything really.

  9. I neglected my flowers beds. I've only pulled weeds a couple times and I didn't plant any flowers. I only had my perennials. I'm so glad hubby has helped me do a lot of the work to the beds this year. And for one year I am glad that they make weed killer.

  15. Wascally wabbit! I'm sure he'll return :). I bet you get some nice songbirds where you live, too.

I love your flowers. Nice, bright yellow, the color of creativity. Yard and garden work is always tiresome but when you look at what you've accomplished, every minute of effort is always worth it. And it gives back so much to you.

I'm considering planting seeds for my first herb garden, maybe in late September :).
