The little ones have found their voice. They coo and kick and grab eachother's hands and I can't say I have ever felt such joy in my life as the earliest parts of the morning watching these two play. As the day goes on they get tired, and sometimes cranky, but these early morning playing, cooing, giggling sessions are priceless, and I am ever more grateful each day for the opportunity to be their mother.
Week of Giveaways Day 5
Thank you so much to the 29 people who played along with our THIS or THAT giveaway! It was wonderful for me to get to read your comments and to get to know you that much better. I am so humbled by the fact that you all have chosen to come to this space and read along, and am ever grateful to you for it.
As I said above, we had 29 entries for yesterday's giveaway and I put them into random.org's lucky number generator.
The winner is #21 - Just Jessie!
Congratulations Jessie, please email me your address at doinggoodinhername(at)gmail(dot)com and I will be happy to get this in the mail to you. Indicate in your email whether you would like the custom painting or the purse!
Today's Giveaway!
Today I am giving away this beautiful butterfly necklace. It is a silver butterfly set against a beautiful blue and green background.
Here are some closer up images of the butterfly itself...
I wish the picture was clearer
(I am a notoriously bad photographer and I apologize).
(I am a notoriously bad photographer and I apologize).
I chose this item to give away because I always associate my little Peyton with butterflies. In fact, in certain parts of the world there are laws on the books making it illegal to kill butterflies because they are believed to be the souls of little children who have passed on.
How To Enter:
If you would like to be entered into my giveaway to win this beautiful necklace, please leave a comment below. In your comment put a link to your own blog, and a few words to describe it like "this blog follows me TTC" or "just a blog where I showcase my crafts." If you want to stay anonymous that is fine too, no need to list a link, just tell us a line or two about yourself.
Okay, happy entering and thanks for playing along!
**A few housekeeping notes:
Doing Good In Her Name is currently seeking donations of children's books to build a bookshelf for use at Danbury Hospital's brand new NICU. Our hope is that these books will help to make the stay for these families a little more pleasant. The books are for children of all ages, as they can be read to NICU patients, and their siblings. At the end of their stays, they will be welcome to take the books home with them. We are collecting books through June and are still quite a far ways out from our goal. If you can help at all, please visit here. All donations are tax deductible.
Exhale Magazine's first visual arts contests was too close to call, so we are asking our readers to vote for their favorites by voting on Exhale's facebook page. Simply "like" your favorite to cast your vote. This voting continues through June 1st.

Happy Blogoversary! I am so glad that you share your life with us here. I have been following Once A Mother since I found you--believe it or not--during my panicked search after breaking a high efficiency light bulb. Thank goodness we crossed paths. I started my own "life after loss" blog (with your encouragement!) about a month ago (alwaysplusone.blogspot.com); it has been a helpful way for me to express myself and my love for my sweet Miles.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about the idea of the butterfly necklace because I definitely associate butterflies with Miles. There were butterflies painted on the ceiling of his PICU room and we loved to read him "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Last night at a softball game, a butterfly kept landing on my husband and me so maybe that's a good sign that I'll win today...

ReplyDeleteA blog that chronicles my journey of carrying my daughter Carleigh and life without her or my other child.
Oh how beautiful. I adore butterflies because I always associated them with my grandma. I remember the day after one of my losses, I saw the first butterfly of the season and I knew my grandma was watching over my babies.
ReplyDeleteMy blog is Dragondreamer's Lair. It started out focusing on my battle against secondary infertility. I now write about parenting, crafts, politics, secondary infertility...whatever floats my boat.
I came across your blog about a year ago when I found nolans story after struggling with pre e and hellp syndrome..although our stories are different find your honesty and strength very inspiring! I have enjoyed following your story and am very happy for this new chapter in your life.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that necklace! What a beautiful giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy blog has been sorely neglected for awhile now but it is about my daughter who was diagnosed with malignant melanoma at 5 years old. It follows treatment for about a year and a half and now that she is NED and we are only on three-month check-ups, I find I don't have so much to say. But it's a good resource for the rare others who are going through this so I'm glad I wrote it.
It is hyperlinked to my name so just click that to see it. :)
Hi there,
ReplyDeleteI blog at saintaltrove.blogspot.com and it is unfortunately overextending itself from a TTC to a grief blog. Am currently attempting to conceive again.
Happy Blogoversary!
my blog is www.tolmanfamilyblog.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteIt is my place to vent my feelings and heartache after losing my precious angel Hannah and then losing my mommy 8 weeks later. It is about my struggles with my littlest son who has a genetic syndrome that most children don't make it to adulthood with....so I try and embrace everyday with him but lets face it somedays I am a wreck!!! My husband is going through cancer treatment right now for bone cancer that has spread to his lungs so yeah....more often then not I feel really alone and am a mess and I am so thankful for your blog and so many others out there who GET IT when family and freinds around me don't seem to. As far as future pregnancies or the TTC part that is all pretty much on hold for now which kills me everyday.
And I love butterflies!! They remind me of my little angel Hannah....she was my little butterfly.
Hugs
Teresa
This has always been a blog about my family...and now, my family includes a little girl who only stayed for 3 days.
